HIGH FIVE® is Canada’s only comprehensive quality standard for children’s sport and recreation programs and service delivery.  It represents a true commitment to children and is based on research involving child development experts, recreation and sport professionals, families and leaders.

Parks and Recreation Ontario founded HIGH FIVE® in 2001 after years of research.  The standard is now being implemented across the country. In 2007, agreements were signed by Authorized Providers in the following seven provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. For further information about HIGH FIVE® in the provinces, please visit each Authorized Provider sub-site.

HIGH FIVE® is built on the belief that all children deserve to have recreation and sport experiences that support healthy child development.

New for 2009!!!

As part of the newly expanded program, the Healthy Living Tax Incentive will be extended to include Nova Scotians of all ages, encouraging adults and children to participate in a healthier lifestyle through fitness.
